Historically part of many different empires, Kolašin is a former fortress-town and the scene of some legendary battles. Rulers came and went, but the town’s spirit, stories and traditions survived. They still survive to this day. Unlike other mountains, Bjelasica’s volcanic origins mean white winters, green summers and flowing streams abound. Peaks reach above 2,200 meters and, thanks to the nearby Biogradska Gora National Park, rugged scenery and winding pistes make Kolašin Montenegro’s answer to the Swiss Alps.
