The hotel presents itself as a luxury hotel but it barely makes the grade. The only good thing about the hotel is the location, otherwise the service, the room appointment, the staff training is below par. It is cheap on towels and other bathroom toiletries, no decorative features in the room and generally very bare and basic. The food service at breakfast was also very basic, hardly more than one would get at a Hilton business hotel. There was nothing about the hotel that was unique or correlated to Osaka or Japan in general. The music played throughout the hotel was largely American and we could have been in a mid west US city than Osaka. The staff training seems to be very poor, for example: after customers finished eating, the staff member brushed the food crumbs and other food debris off the table and on to the carpet, then using the cloth to brush the food residue off the table used the same cloth to clean the seats of the chairs. As the hotel is in Japan one would expect more dishes and sampling of the local cuisine, but instead were presented with bacon and eggs, beans, traditional oatmeal porridge, some cold custard, minimal cheese selection, white sliced bread or over baked baguette and typical l fruit selection one would have at a budget hotel. Very limited selection of Japanese dishes. In the room two thin and cheap pillows were provided and it was very apparent thst the linen was not of premium quality. We asked for firmer pillows and we got even cheaper foam pillows. We weren't expecting that from a "luxury hotel". Not sure how your hotel really qualifies you as "luxury hotel" other than charging high prices for the rooms.

We spent 9 nights at the Swissotel Osaka. It was a fabulous location with so much to do so close-by. If you never wanted to leave the hotel, you could have found everything located in the Hotel's building - there is so much to do and see.

Plus points: spacious public areas (lobby etc); helpful reception and concierge, and waitress in Chinese restaurant; choice of food in the breakfast buffet; room quiet (our room was at the end of the corridor, away from the lifts). Not so good: bedroom was tiny; hotel is hard to find on foot, in the many levels of underground passageways from Nankai station; crowded and noisy at breakfast in the 38th floor restaurant.

The hotel is located in a very good location, making it easy to access everything you need, from shopping to the train station. The room was very clean, and the staff were super polite and helpful.

Room smelt like cigarettes. Airconditioning didn’t work. Managers service was really poor. Won’t stay again.
